What we look after across a public estate
- Automatic sliding and swing entrances at leisure centres, libraries and civic buildings
- Low-energy and accessible door operators for step-free public entry
- Roller shutters, fire exits, plant-room and depot doors
- Gates, barriers and access control for car parks, depots and school sites
- Planned servicing on a fixed schedule for every site
- Reactive repairs and 24/7 make-safe for insecure or unusable doors
- All makes serviced, so you keep the equipment you have
Four kinds of building, one contractor
Leisure centres open early, close late and run pools whose warm, chlorinated air is hard on door motors, sensors and tracks. Entrances need servicing on a tighter cycle, and a fault before the morning swim needs a fast response.
Libraries and community hubs depend on step-free entry for wheelchair users, buggies and older visitors. A slow or stuck automatic door is an accessibility problem, not just a maintenance one.
Council offices and civic buildings mix public receptions with staff-only areas, so the front door and the access control behind it have to work together and lock up cleanly out of hours.
Schools need controlled entry for safeguarding and planned work in the holidays. Our engineers are DBS-checked and follow each school’s sign-in rules.

Ready for tenders, frameworks and quotes
Public contracts are scored on quality, price and social value, and evaluators check the basics before they shortlist: safe working, vetted engineers, accreditation and clear records. We respond to tenders, framework mini-competitions and requests for quotes, and can survey the estate to build an asset list and visit plan.
Taking over from another contractor is straightforward. We work on all major door makes, so there is no need to replace equipment, and the first planned visit doubles as a condition survey of every door on the estate.

Frequently asked questions
Do you maintain automatic doors for councils and public bodies?
Yes. NW Automatic Doors maintains automatic doors, shutters and gates across council estates in North Wales, including leisure centres, libraries, council offices and schools. We run planned servicing on one schedule for every site, handle reactive repairs and 24/7 make-safe, and keep a written record for each door.
What accreditations do you hold for public sector work?
NW Automatic Doors is SafeContractor and SSIP accredited and a member of the Automatic Door Installers Association (ADIA), with DoorSafe-registered engineers. Our engineers are DBS-checked, verified through DBS Check Online. Risk assessments and method statements are provided before work starts, and insurance certificates are available on request for tenders and quotes.
How often should automatic doors in public buildings be serviced?
Current safety guidance recommends powered doors are serviced and safety-checked regularly, typically once or twice a year depending on how busy the door is. Busy public entrances such as leisure centres, libraries and civic receptions usually suit twice-yearly visits. We recommend the right frequency for each door and record every visit.
Can you take over from our current door contractor?
Yes. We survey the doors, build an asset list and visit plan, and quote to take the planned work on. We service all major automatic door, shutter and gate makes, so there is no need to replace equipment. Most servicing agreements only cover planned visits, so you can usually move repairs to us straight away.
Can you work around public opening hours, term time and events?
Yes. We book planned servicing for quiet periods, early mornings, school holidays and closed days so public access is not disrupted. When a door fails during opening hours, we make it safe first and keep the entrance usable wherever parts and access allow.
Which areas do you cover for public sector contracts?
We cover all of North Wales and Mid Wales, including Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Wrexham, Gwynedd and Anglesey. Our own in-house engineers cover the region from Llandudno, so multi-site estates across the region sit on one agreement with one point of contact.
